Another site visit for the A-one+ team this week. This time we have visited a Tarmac quarry and an asphalt plant to tour the sites, learn about the materials we use on schemes and how it is processed.
The visit started at Dry Rigg and Arcow Quarries with a site induction followed by a tour where the group were told about high polished stone value (PSV) aggregate and stone geology. High PSV has a high skid resistance and is better to use for surfacing roads with heavy traffic flows.
The group then travelled to Cross Green Asphalt Plant to learn about the asphalt, rail off load and concluded with a visit to the laboratory where they had a lesson understanding asphalt properties and characteristics.
Our technicians and engineers said they enjoyed the day very much, it was a great experience and opportunity to understand about where the scheme materials come from.
Thanks go to our supply partner Tarmac for hosting a useful and informative visit for our team.
