Contract Success

A-one+ announced two major maintenance contracts with Highways England today. The contracts for Area 12 Yorkshire and Humberside and Area 4 in Kent will commence from June 2016 for five years and have a combined estimated value of between £140m and £165m per year with a potential three year extension on both. The contracts will operate following the new Asset Support Contract (ASC) delivery model which is a shift from the previous Managing Agent Contractor (MAC) model, placing more focus on the long term effective maintenance and development of highways assets.

A-one+ is the current contractor for Area12 which has seen a cluster of award recognitions over the years culminating in ‘Most Considerate Constructor’ more recently at the Considerate Constructor Awards for 2015. A-one+ is proud of its achievements and innovations for improving customer experience, driving collaborative working and improving safety for road workers and road users and is looking forward to mobilising the new contracts and building on the solid foundations already in place.  A-one+ is a key provider able to work with Highways England to deliver greater efficiencies against the funding and delivery plans required over the next five years.

Commenting on the contract wins, Clive Leadbetter, Managing Director, A-one+, said: “I am delighted that A-one+ has been selected by Highways England to support their delivery plans in Areas 12 and 4 in addition to our contracts in Areas 7 and 14  to meet the aims and objectives of their procurement strategy. Our expertise and ability to create innovative solutions in safety, customer experience and asset management has been and will continue to be of huge importance in future proofing our Strategic Road Network. Thanks go to our parent companies CH2M, Colas and Costain for creating and encouraging the platform for A-one+ to develop and deliver.”

Peter McDermott, Director of Highways at CH2M, said: “CH2M is delighted to be continuing its strong partnership with Costain and Colas working collaboratively to support Highways England in the delivery of highway asset management, maintenance and operations services on the strategic road network.”

David Craik, Executive Director of Colas comments: “We are delighted to confirm our key role as a major service provider to Highways England. Colas is looking forward to the successful delivery of these Asset Support Contracts and reaffirm our commitment to work with Highways England in evolving and adapting to ensure positive outcomes in developing their future delivery models.”
