Double Award Winning Finale for A-one+ in Area 7
A-one+ triumphed twice at the Institute of Civil Engineers East Midland Merit Awards award last week. A fitting end to the maintenance contract in Area 7 which came to an end on 30 June, after seven year’s high quality service delivery.
The Area 7 team based in Mansfield was shortlisted for four entries. The entries were; a scheme of cycle path improvements, an exceptional project on the A45 westbound carriageway, the FastTrack drainage system and an M1 pinch point programme.
A-one+ were announced as winners of the Studies and Research category or the FastTrack drainage survey system in conjunction with Carnell. FastTrack is a speedy and low cost solution to survey, categorise and present drainage condition information in a way that supports long term asset maintenance planning.
The company was also Medium Project category winner for the M1 J24 pinch point scheme. A-one+ identified, designed and built an innovative and sustainable improvement of the severely congested M1 junction 24. The creatively designed dedicated cut-through aims to save an average six minutes journey time at morning peak.
The ICE East Midlands Merit Awards aims to celebrate projects of all size and scope throughout the region and every year awards are presented to the best civil engineering projects or team, or to ground breaking research. The winners were announced live during a special gala dinner hosted by Sir John Armitt, ICE President at The Belfry Hotel, Nottingham on Friday 1 July 2016
A-one+ is a shared joint venture between Ch2m, Colas and Costain which carries out maintenance and repairs on motorways and trunk roads on behalf of Highways England.
