Apprentice of the Year

We are thrilled to announce that Thomas Coleman from our Area 12 team was awarded winner of the prestigious BTEC Award for 19+ Apprentice of the Year at a special ceremony at Central Hall Westminster in London, on Thursday 5 July.

Spanning 24 categories, this was the eighth annual Pearson BTEC Awards, hosted by financial journalist and TV Presenter Steph McGovern. The awards recognise and reward students, teachers and colleges for their exceptional achievements in vocational learning and the ceremony showcased the fantastic contributions made by students and young people studying for BTECs.  The ceremony was attended by the winners, their families and teachers as well as leading stakeholders from the education and business worlds.

Thomas is currently a Higher-Level Apprentice studying Construction Management. The organisers said: “Thomas is a student of great drive and ambition, achieving a Distinction in all his units. He is a true advocate for the apprenticeship route and spends his time informing young adults about this pathway with great energy.”

Thomas said: “This award is an accumulation of a lot of hard work, long hours and dedication over the past 3 years, I wouldn’t change any of it. This is my greatest accolade to date and I am privileged that my recent efforts at work, college and external institutions have been recognised by BTEC. I am extremely lucky to have such great support from my colleagues, tutors, fiancée, Mum and the rest of my amazing family who have all helped me achieve my recent success.”

This is the latest in a long list of awards and recognition for Thomas who is roads asset engineer based at our Wakefield office. To be shortlisted for these awards is an outstanding achievement but to win is a magnificent accolade. We are extremely proud of all our apprentices but huge congratulations to you Thomas and well done on this very well-deserved award, wishing you all the best with your continued studies in September.
