Quantity Surveyor

Key roles and responsibilities:                     
Responsible for the commercial control and pricing of Providers Works schemes undertaken under the derived price mechanism, as allocated, and reimbursable expenses for time-charge activities.  Work closely with Integrated Delivery Team Project Managers to ensure timely completion of all schemes.

  • Produce derived price estimates from existing sample schemes
  • Monitor the submission of site measurement information for allocated schemes to ensure it is being updated on an on-going basis.
  • Ensure periodic measures and valuations are produced for schemes as the works proceed, for both invoice submission and internal reporting.
  • Value and certify payments to sub-contractors in accordance with the contract conditions.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly cost/value reports, monitoring actual cost against target estimates.
  • Produce financial statements periodically for the client, confirming predicted value and spend on schemes.
  • Ensure early warnings are issued to the Service Manager and compensation events valued in accordance with the contract requirements.
  • Prepare and agree final accounts on completion.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with the client and colleagues through communication and open honest approach.
  • Work closely with colleagues across design and construction teams at all stages of scheme preparation and delivery.
    Qualifications
  • Appropriate HNC and recognised Institute or similar professional qualifications / equivalent experience
    Knowledge/Experience
  • Experience or knowledge of NEC form of contracts
  • Highway Maintenance works (desirable)
  • Financial management
  • Working with the Highways Agency (desirable) /working in partnerships with a client
  • Building up derived prices or similar from base data
  • Sub-contract control and valuation and claim preparation
