Highways Inspectors

A-one is a joint venture between Halcrow and Colas, leading specialists in highways management. As Managing Agent Contractor for the Highways Agency’s Area 14, we’re responsible for the operation, maintenance and improvement of motorways and trunk roads in the North East of England. We currently have a vacancy for a Highway Inspectors based at our Swalwell Office.

Key roles and responsibilities:

This role is responsible for the day to day detailed and inventory inspections of the network using electronic data capture devices. 

You will be responsible for providing feedback on the general condition of the network and report any areas of concern identified during the routine inspection.

You will also be involved in downloading the data capture devices and process inspections into the Highstone database. Additionally you will be involved with assisting the Works Supervisors with any measurements or works in connection with the scheme development and when required providing measurements to assist with the referencing of the network.

Candidate specification:

  • Ideally candidates will have relevant highways inspection experience within highways maintenance
  • Good  IT skills, ideally with experience of using data capture software
  • Good communication skills are essential in this role in order to build strong working relationships
  • The ability to use own initiative and work unsupervised, yet able to work well in a small team
  • Hold a full driving licence
  • Able to carry out the daily physical nature of the on foot inspections
